ELEVATOR ADDITION

The owner wished to install an elevator into a 25 year old home on the intercoastal waterway in Ft. Lauderdale. We incorporated a pneumatic elevator (runs on forced air) that eliminated cables, machine room or hydraulics. Due to the complexity of limited access from the front to the back of the house and unstable soils we had to bring in machinery via a barge to install forty foot deep foundation pilings. The crane lifted the machinery from the barge onto a pool deck runway up to the existing house. First and second floor openings inside the house were created for access to the elevator. All the materials and finishes were kept consistent with the existing look of the house, all the way down to the copper gutters that were retrofitted on the radius roof.
